John G. Wilkes awakes with a splitting headache and seeks relief from a nearby pharmacy. Since Coca-Cola was touted as, among other things, a cure for headaches, it wasn't surprising for someone wanting quick relief to try it. The soda fountain clerk, mistakedly, mixed Coca-Cola syrup with carbonated water. The fizzing result was pleasing to Mr Wilkes and brought relief to his pounding temples. Coca-Cola, as we know it today, was born. | |
